How does a weighted grade calculator work?
A weighted grade gives different assignments or categories different importance. Instead of simply averaging percentages, the calculator multiplies each score by its percentage weight and then adds the contributions.
What if the weights do not total 100% yet?
For an in-progress course, you may only have grades for part of the final weighting. The calculator shows weighted points earned toward the final grade and also normalizes the entered work to show your current percentage across that completed weight.
Weighted grade formula
For each row, weighted contribution equals score percentage × weight percentage. Adding the contributions gives points toward the final course grade. Dividing those points by the included weight gives the normalized current grade when less than 100% is entered.
Practical accuracy tips
Use percentages and weights from the official syllabus or gradebook. Do not enter category weights as raw point totals. If the teacher drops scores, curves grades, caps extra credit, or treats missing work specially, apply those rules before using the calculator.
