What is a GPA calculator?
A GPA calculator estimates grade point average by converting each letter grade to grade points, multiplying those points by the course credit value, then dividing total grade points by total graded credits. This page uses a common unweighted 4.0 model so credit-heavy courses contribute proportionally more than smaller-credit courses.
How is GPA calculated?
The core formula is GPA = total grade points ÷ total graded credits. For a 3-credit course with an A (4.0), the course contributes 12 grade points. A 4-credit course with a B (3.0) contributes 12 grade points. Together that is 24 grade points over 7 credits, or about 3.429.
