How does this converter work?
The calculator converts the entered value through a common reference unit or an exact scale relationship, then converts that reference value to the selected target unit. Intermediate values are not rounded. This follows the general NIST approach of choosing an appropriate conversion factor, canceling units and rounding the final quantity rather than intermediate steps.

Conversion example
32 °F equals 0 °C and 273.15 K. The Celsius–Kelvin offset is exactly 273.15.
Accuracy, definitions and rounding
Values below absolute zero are rejected. Temperature differences use different rules from absolute temperature values, so this tool is for converting temperature readings.
